Concept for Refurbishment

A concept for the full refurbishment of all existing guestrooms, suites & also the hotel lobby lounge & bar areas. The hotel is located opposite the historic Gendarmenmarkt in West Berlin. The team will be injecting new & exciting interiors to all new areas to create a subtle link to the vernacular.

Client Brief

To create a unique experience for business & tourist travellers alike. The Lobby must entice people into the grand double height space & through clever design the large open space must also allow for more intimate spaces. The guestrooms must be fully functional for business guests & the design to be strong & bold with highlights of Berlin's architecture.

Design Approach

The guestrooms have been cleverly designed to incorporate one striking injection colour, this can then vary from floor to floor to create a different design language. The rooms are extremely sophisticated with dark timber joinery & strong patterns running through the fabrics. The Lobby Bar & Lounge has a contemporary classic twist, picking up on Berlin's style & history & blending with some unique ideas. The space is broken up into a series of intimate booths for privacy. A long bar runs down one length of the space with an interesting broken mirror back drop reflecting the rest of the space.
